![]() On the SynthTech site, I only see the E520 listed as the "Hyperion Stereo Effects Processor." Is that it? Unfortunately, that looks like a limited-run module and not available currently on the used market.Īh, I found the "Spectral Time Machine." It's under the E520's product description under "spectral effects." It sure looks the business. Yet the UI itself is quite good and its ribbon-like, playback-speed control permits live-stretching of your samples. Just, the portrait-mode thing and using a tiny iPhone is annoying. I bought it and it works but with severe artifacts. Is this really the only app that can perform true time-stretching (i.e., vary playback-speed without affecting pitch) down to less than x50%, in this case, down to x0.01%? So in my seemingly endless search for a time-stretch module, synth, groovebox or app, the only thing I can find is a tiny iPhone app which only operates in portrait-mode and doesn't work on iPads. The IRCAM algorithm is generally considered the best software implementation of this effect and can be found in the Native Instruments' Kontact library. Though the artifacted sounds are interesting, they lack the fidelity of the Nebulae and other devices capable of true time-stretching (e.g., MPC Live, Serato Sample). CORRECTION: Most or all of the apps mentioned by me in this thread actually suffer from severe artifacts and sound nothing like the true time-stretching produced for example by the QU-Bit Nebulae v2.
